Garden Club Provides Food for Thought with
The Edible Landscape
MILLIS.. On Wednesday, April 16 from 7-8 pm, the Millis Garden Club will
sponsor an educational program The Edible Landscape, presented by Seija
Halva, a highly respected horticulturist, herbalist and Garden Coach.
The program takes place at Veterans Memorial Building, Room 130, 900
Main Street (Rte 109), Millis. Registration begins at 6:30 pm, so come
early and meet other gardening enthusiasts from the area. MGC programs
are open to the public with a $5.00 donation at the door for non-members.
Dr. Halva will talk about designing a home or public garden with vegetables
and herbs, and plants that produce fruits or berries. Edible landscape will
offer year-round attraction from bloom till harvest, and also provide winter
interest, and food for wild life. She will discuss how to choose plants and
cultivars, how and where to plant, and how to take care of the edible plants.
From September – April, the Millis Garden Club schedules educational
programs for its members and the community, in addition to hosting civic beautification
projects and fundraising events throughout the year. Monthly meetings are
held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Veterans Memorial Building, unless
otherwise noted. Meeting topics focus on all areas of gardening as well as
ways to contribute to the beautification of the town.
