August 17, 2006
The Millis Garden Club Members wish to express sincere appreciation to
all those who participated in the 2nd Annual Bulb and Plant Sale. Orders
came from Millis and beyond, and we thank each and everyone of you. The
fundraiser ended on August 14 and with your support, over $800 was raised!
Proceeds from our Annual Bulb and Annual Sale solely benefit the MGC's Catch Our Drift project, our new civic beautification program in Millis. Starting this fall, MGC will plant hundreds of daffodil and daylily bulbs in drifts along the roadsides and in islands. As a result, every Spring, Millis residents - as well as our neighbors visiting or driving through town - will be able to enjoy early splashes of golden splendor. Shortly, we will announce which location has been selected for the 2006 planting, pending approval from Town Officials. This is a long range fundraising program and civic beautification project. Each year our club will select one town-owned site to plant. Sites may include an island or be along a roadside area. Monies to purchase the bulbs will come directly from the proceeds of MGC's Annual Bulb and Plant Fundraiser. Contributions will also be accepted throughout the year. Please send your check to Millis Garden Club, P.O. Box 535, Millis, MA 02054 Attention: Catch Our Drift. Each contribution will be used to purchased bubls and plants to beautify town land, as described above.
YOU CAUGHT OUR DRIFT!
We have invited you, Millis residents, to catch our drift and we thank many of you who purchased larger quantities of bulbs to plant for just this reason. If you have decided where to plant your bulbs yet, consider planting drifts of daffodils in your yards where the public can view them. Along roadsides and under a canopy of trees are perfect places to plant drifts of bulbs.Bulb and Plant Details: The Bulbs and Plants will arrive in September and October. Each customer will be contacted and arrangements for delivery will be made at that time. Any questions, please direct them to Nancy Sitta, President at (508) 376-2676 or nancysitta@comcast.net.
Thank you all so much! Happy planting!
